Sound Healing

About Sound Bowl Meditation & Emily

Emily Curry's handmade Tibetan sound bowls laid out with a mallet

In both Eastern traditions and modern science, vibration is seen as a fundamental force of creation. According to Eastern teachings, sound and vibration are central to the fabric of existence. Sound bowl healing is also referred to as Nada Yoga. In Nada Yoga, the practice of connecting with the sound/vibration of the universe is believed to sustain everything in the cosmos, suggesting that everything originated from sound. Sound is produced when a force causes an object or medium to vibrate. These vibrations propagate through the air, water or solids as waves. These waves can have high and low frequency vibrations.

Sound Vibration Therapy is a holistic practice that uses therapeutic sound frequencies to harmonize the body, mind and spirit. This ancient healing method, rooted in traditions from Eastern spirituality, recognizes sound not just as an external vibration but as a sacred force capable of awakening inner consciousness and supporting deep healing.

Sound therapy reduces anxiety, lowers blood pressure, enhances sleep quality and helps release emotional tension.

About my bowls

Handmade Tibetan sound bowls with decorated cushion rings and mallets

The bowls I have are handmade Tibetan sound bowls made of seven sacred metals. These bowls are made to be struck with a mallet and placed directly on the body for vibrational therapy. Their sound is long lasting and possesses a healing depth. I have 7 bowls in total, each bowl correlating to one of the 7 chakras. During a group session, members will be guided through a meditation while listening to the sounds of each bowl. Members are welcome to participate in the direct transfer of vibration by having the bowl placed on them for a deeper and more effective healing method. A brief history will be given before the session and time at the end will be allotted for discussion and reflection.
